O’Riley faces competition from Shankland, Tavernier to win Player of the Year
O’Riley, a Danish international, has bagged 13 times in 33 starts for the league leaders so far this season – the most by any midfielder in Scotland.
He also leads the Scottish Premiership in assists with 11 and if Celtic can hold on to win their third straight title, it’s hard to see a different winner of this award.
Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland and Rangers defender James Tavernier have scored 21 and 17 goals respectively in the league this season and command respect in the market.
Naismith odds-on for Manager of the Year glory in debut campaign at Hearts
The PFA Scotland Manager of the Year award is expected to depart Glasgow for the first time since 2019 and head to Edinburgh, where rookie head coach Steven Naismith has done an impressive job with Hearts.
The former Jam Tarts midfielder officially took over as Hearts boss last September and for a period of the season, the club were challenging Celtic and Rangers at the summit.
Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes is also in with a shout with the club in a comfortable fourth place, but Naismith looks the strongest bet as the campaign draws to a close.
